The Flower Thief
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian Harvey & Mona EigbrettFor half-a-breath she stands
Suspended, mesmerized
Then moves softly out into the night
Slipping out alone
To steal those flowers
For the many, lovely vases that she owns
It's so difficult to satisfy the emptiness
So hard to appease the constant pain
Flowerless and mute
She peers into the dark
Craving color....that intensify her life
She tosses flowery treasure
In a tangle on the floor Grinning sweetly at the colorful visual
Circle so slowly consuming with her sight
‘Til she blushes at her heaving appetite
She knows they don't exist for the owning
She knows they'll wither up and die
For now, she'll take her pleasure
Satisfy her heart
Lord, you know the way she needs them
Dream-like she composes a fragrant harmony
In the spaces of the vases that she owns
Stares at this altar of silent, blooming grace
Breathing deeply the melody of each flower
She knows they don't exist for the owning
She knows they'll wither up and die
For now, she'll take her pleasure
Satisfy her heart
Lord, you know the way she needs them
Something more is there....urgent, leering, haunting
"Why can't I touch this thing I already know?"
Made desperate by the prowling of a beast within her heart
She turns toward window....back toward the night....
It's so difficult to satisfy the emptiness
So hard to appease the constant pain
Flowerless and mute
She peers into the dark
Compelled once more to gardens beyond self
The gardens of friends....
The gardens of strangers....
The gardens of......a restless soul....
The gardens of.......a depthless soul....
The gardens of........a breathless soul....

I Don't Buy It
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian HarveyNow you tell me
Some were born to win And some born to lose
You talk about a thing called fate Tate that we don’t get to choose... I look at you in amazement You really think that way? Life is filled with luscious choice Now, come on, you can say....I don’t buy it....no no.....
I don’t think that way today
No I don’t buy it
Not a word....not today......
no no... not any day....
Well you tell me God is just one thing
And you have got the key
You think that all the rest of us
Are lost....eternally
I gape at you and wonder
My God is wild and free
The blindness of this kind of talk
Will never be tempting me.....
‘Cause I don’t buy it.....no no....
Don’t you preach at me that way
No, I don’t buy it.....you won’t reach me
Not today....not any day....
No, I don’t buy it.....don’t try to disguise it....
I’ll recognize it....you know I’ll despise it...
‘Cause I don’t play....no no.....not that way....
So you tell me....life is just a game
That we all have to play
The slickest make up all the rules
The rest get swept away....
I look at you in amazement.....
How can I make you see?
You got 64 crayons in that box
Come on....color with more than three!
I don’t buy it....no no.....
I don’t think that way today
No I don’t buy it
Not a word....not today......
no no... not any day....
So you tell me some were born to win
And some....born to lose
You talk about a thing called Fate
That we don’t....get to choose.....
I look at you in amazement.....
How can I make you see?
Just gimme that sweet smile of yours....
Now, come on, say with me.....
I don’t buy it.....no no....
I don’t think that way today....
No, I don’t buy it.....not a word.....
Not today...no no.....
I don’t buy it.....don’t try to disguise it ....
I’ll recognize it....you know I’ll despise it...
‘Causee I don’t play....no no.....
Don’t take the credit......don’t aid and abet it
You should forget it......you know you’ll regret it...
‘Cause I don’t play.....no no.....not that way....

Slow Monkey
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian HarveyIn his densely-tangled jungle mind
You can see the fear that crawls behind
In the darkened shadows on his face
Feel the fear that’s movin’ through the place
Slow monkey’s coming back.....Slow Monkey’s coming’
“See no evil, you think no evil.....
See no evil, and speak no evil....
See no evil...but...awwwww....”
That Slow monkey’s coming back!
In his densely-jangled, jumbled mind
There’s a fever crawlin’ up behind
In the darkened caverns in the place
See the fear that’s movin’ through the place
Repeat Chorus
When you’re lookin’ deeply in his face
There's a shadowed darkness on the place
Monkey see and monkey’s gonna do
That’s the Darwin deep inside of you
Protozoan pre-thought peace of mind
Ancient primal soul that stalks behind........
Repeat Chorus

Houdini's Heart
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian HarveyHis form is poised and fetal as he feeds his fond obsession
Feeds it with these self-inflicted, convoluted chains
They clutchingly confine, yeah, they choke him in the challenge
A penetrating quest beyond this present place in time
Houdinni’s Heart - he’s a prophet
He’s a real man workin’ out
All the darkest cords that bind him
That will not let him BE...
Houdini’s heart holds a vision
Of another way to live
Where the soul is truly timeless
He spawns reality.....
The safety of this livin’ on the inside lookin’ out
The chance to free the soul from all this permeating doubt
He’s met with dark derision from these dense, deluded minds
They taunt him with their steel-weight chains that subjugate the blind

That Dog In The Bed
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian HarveyYou see her walkin’ down the street
Watch her movin’ to that beat
You want that woman in your life
Got to have her yet tonight.......
But there’s somethin’ you got to know
Yeah, there’s someplace you can’t go.....
There’s a secret waiting at home
It’s that canine Romeo!
That dog in the bed......Now watch him, watch him
That dog in the bed....sleek and well-fed
That dog in the bed....Come on, watch him, watch him
That dog in the bed......he’s gonna move ahead
So you see every nighthead
Well, you see her every night
And she’s dancin’ under the light
Ah, that woman’s captured your heart
There’s no doubt, you’re fallin’ apart
There’s still someplace you’ll never go
But there’s something you got to know
There’s a secret waitin’ at whithin
It’s that beast....that roaming sin!
Repeat Chorus
Well, you see her every night
And your heart...it’s put up a fight
But that woman woman won't let you in
She’s been hidin’ her secret sin
Turn around....it’s time to go home
You’ll be sleepin’ there all alone
Cause that woman’s panting at home
With her canine Romeo!

What To Say
Lyrics & Music - Dan Peck
Wining and dining you say is your way
But you keep pushin’ the ticket my way
You’re so strange......And I don’t know what to say
You want my attention each hour of the day
But when I move in....you shove shove me away
You’re so strange......And I don’t know what to say
Screamin’ your rage like a cat in a cage
You’re so jealous when I’m on the stage
You’re so strange......And I don’t know what to say
You left me here standing with nothing to say
That’s okay, babe, have it your way
One thing’s for certain.....that’s me and the boys have to play
You want love with none of the pain
But my heart gets trampled and I take the blame
You’re so strange......And I don’t know what to say (Repeat Twice)

Frequent Flyer
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian HarveyThe warmest, very wildest place can be your destination
Ride the ‘oh-so-friendly’ skies of my sweet imagination
Mr. Passenger of Pleasure......there’s a tiger in my tank
Purring smoothly right along, and I’ve got you to thank!
Well please don’t take me wrong my love, sweet fidelity’s my crew
Ride the ‘oh-so-sultry skies’ that I been savin’ up for you
Flying’s much more meaningful when true love is in control
You set down someplace lovelier than you would ever......expect to go!
‘Cause I’m the one whose fervent, fiery love will only take you higher
Climb aboard this sleek machine.....she’s a frequent flyer!
I’m the modus operandi, baby...... you been prayin’ for
I’ll teach you everything I know.....then we’ll invent some more
We’ll soar to where the ozone layer....has all but thinned away
Grow dizzy from the heady heights of our sweet, sweet......passion play!
Repeat Chorus
How well I’ve learned that auto-pilot....just will never, never do
If I’ve filed away a flight plan, babe, you know, I’m always gonna follow through
Hang on tightly, baby love......there may be turbulence ahead
We’ll have such fun carousing on this luscious.....’Big Sky’ bed!

The Butterfly Song
Lyrics & Music - Brian Harvey
Little Butterfly... flying so high...
Way above the clouds... across the sky...
When I see you I just... can't look away...
Little butterfly... come down and play...
Little Butterfly
Crazy little Butterfly
Wicked little Butterfly
Crazy little Butterfly........
Fly.....
Little Butterfly... flying so high...
Way above the clouds... across my mind...
Then I take that little... fly form the sky...
I put him in my mouth... I made him die...
I made him die
Wicked little Butterfly
Tasty little Butterfly
Crazy little Butterfly........
Fly.....
Now I've lost my friend... Mr. Butterfly...
I miss his silhouette... across my eyes...
If there is a heaven... I know that he's there....
Little butterfly.... I made you die...
I made you die
Crazy little Butterfly
Tasty little Butterfly
Wicked little Butterfly........
Fly.... Oh yea....

Nursery Rhymes
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian HarveyHey, little boy, come on and blow my horn
Don’t you ever be blue
Little boy, come on and blow my horn
I been dreamin’ of you...
I wanna play with you....
I was just a little girl home all alone
With a feelin’ I wanted to share
Slipped between the pages of a nursery rhyme
For a fantasy love affair...
My little girl love affair...
Nursery Rhymes.... little boy, tell me, what’s the crime, little boy?
Lost in the mystery of Mother Goose’s fantasy....
The mystery of Mother Goose’s fantasy....
Little Bo Peep, she lost her sheep
Now her life seems so bare
‘Til little Jack Horner got her in a corner
Saying, “Boy, I got somethin’ to share.....
I wanna take you somewhere.”
Mary, ah, Mary, so sweet, extraordinary
Her garden was ready to pick.....
Jack is young and nimble... fiery and fit...
He said I'll show you my candle stick
You oughta see my candle stick...
Repeat Chorus
Jack and Jill, they sneaked up a hill
Are you startin’ to wonder ‘bout, Jack?
Sneaks 'round town, getting his fill
And that boy never looks back
Jack never looks back...
So, Little Bo Peep, don’t you fall asleep
Mary oh Mary, you better be wary
Sweet Little Jill, you might miss him still
'Jack’s been lookin’ for you....
Jack is gonna fly with... you!
Do it ‘til the cow jumps over the moon
Do it ‘til the dish runs away with the spoon
Do it ‘cause our fantasies... end too soon
Jack, I’m talkin’ to you...
Jack, I been waitin’ for... you....
Hey, little boy, come on and blow my horn
Don’t you ever be blue
Little boy, come on and blow my horn
I been dreamin’ of you...
I wanna play with you...
So Jack please take me somewhere...
For my little girl love affair...
‘Well I’m lost in the mystery....
I’m lost in the mystery...
I’m lost in the mystery of Mother Goose’s....Fantasy!
Jack, I’m talkin’ to you!

Mama's In The Kitchen
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian HarveyMama’s in the kitchen, ironing the shirts my Daddy wears.
My Mama’s in the kitchen, ironing the shirts my Daddy wears.
He’s a highly-respected man in this town
Mama’s so glad he ain’t runnin’ around
But my Mama’s in the kitchen, spending the time alone.
My Daddy owns a prosperous business built with his own hands.
He’s on city council, the church board, he’s got prominent friends
Every night he’s off to meetings again
Sacred civic duty, the work never ends
While my Mama’s in the kitchen, pressin’ the time away.
For years you been staring at those poorly-painted pears on the wall
And that strange bowl of apples looks so awkwardly small
These worn out prints reflect a mood in your eye
There he goes again... I didn’t hear a good-bye
Mama, pitch those pictures, they offer nothing at all
Sometimes when it’s storming outside, I hear her hum to her task
Does she ever get lonely? I never though to ask.
‘Cause my Mama’s in the kitchen, wearing that immutable mask
When do you talk, Mama, tell me, when do you touch
Don’t you need him, Mama, don’t you miss him so much
Don’t tell me what a generous man he has been
Unless he stays home, some rules got to bend
Strap on some backbone, Mama, you need some love from this man
Hey, Mama, there’s a way to show him all the woman you are
Do you have the guts to push it, Mama, can you take it that far
Ditch that damn iron & block up the door
Don’t let that man leave this house anymore
Make love to him, Mama, right on that ironing board
Repeat Bridge
Mama’s in the kitchen, ironing the shirts my Daddy wears
My Mama’s in the kitchen, ironing the shirts my Daddy wears
We hardly speak to each other these days
We’re very different, I can’t live life this way
Really, Mama, you spend too much time alone.
Mamma... Mamma... Mamma... I gotta go!

Joan Of Arc
Lyrics - Mona Eigbrett
Music - Brian Harvey & Mona EigbrettThrough the flames....through the flames.....
Through the flames....through the flames.....
The little girl of Domremy
La Pucelle...a virgin sweet.....Joan of Arc
The little girl of Domremy
La Pucelle...a virgin sweet.....Joan of Arc
As a child the Great Archangel once spoke
“You’ belessed of God and chosen as heaven’s bright hope
France has fallen and bleeds profusely within
Your mission Joan, eradicate the sin”
A wondrous sight to angel and devil alike
This girl of sixteen charging into the fight
In whitest armor, astride a charger of black
She lead 12,000 French into the attack
But soon enough she’s caught in the trap of religion
Offered up to unholy damned Inquisition
For months those haughty bishops held their own court
And Joan, you know you were only there for the sport
Strong you stood and you looked each man in the eye
“My life is God’s and for him I willingly die.”
But the straw that finally broke those old backs
Came in a phrase you uttered with no shred of tact
You smiled, “Gentlemen, you needn’t talk all at once.
“For you will find you’ll only confuse yourselves.”
Such a witty, dangerous thing you did say,
And now they’ll never let you live past this day
They sneered, “Bloody Joan, today we decree your foul fate
Death by fire, rudely strapped to a stake!”
And at the feast of flesh they panted to hear
Her crazed and howling anguish, her fiery fear
But as the flames caressed her feminine frame Ecstasy embraced her.....there was no pain.....no...no....no......pain....
It seems that Bishops never really did learn
The body melts... but the soul never will burn
In her ninthenth year she brough victory
Still the sweet little girl... of Domremy
About The Band
Neptune Bloom was formed in Omaha Nebraska in 1995 by Brian Harvey and Dan Hylok. Brian and Dan had been playing together in cover bands as early as 1988.
In 1995 they decided to branch out and start a new project that focused on producing original content. Mona Eigbrett joined the band after meeting Brian at Orent Graphics where they both worked.
Shortly after, Dan Peck joined the band after answering a classified ad in the Omaha World Herald.
Mona Eigbrett serverd as the creative force and "front man" for the band. Her cerebral lyrics and storytelling style fit well with the musical sensibility of the rest of the group.
During their tenure Neptune Bloom had a large and loyal following which allowed them to play, and open for several national acts at some of the premiere venues of the day including The Ranch Bowl, and The Capitol Lounge.
